Community Mental Health Services – Helping children and families succeed
Today’s parents, as in past generations, want their children to succeed in school and thrive. They struggle to achieve and maintain the strong family structure that can withstand negative pressures so prevalent in today's society. At Aviva, we recognize the importance of early enrichment programs that can help families gain the skills that are so important to their children’s future success. We offer two early enrichment programs to help families acquire those skills.
Birth to Five is part of Aviva’s commitment to helping parents prepare their children for school in their first five years of life. Research has established that a child’s early life experiences and environmental surroundings are closely linked to brain development and the foundation for future development. At Aviva, we know that families create the first learning environment for their children, and that parents are their children’s first teachers. Through this program, our highly qualified staff work with families by providing information and resources to aid in the children’s physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development, while promoting intergenerational learning and educational achievement.
SAFE (Student Aftercare for Enrichment) was created in 1998 to meet Los Angeles' need for affordable daycare and tutoring programs. Our families, who participate in the SAFE program, have a limited annual income. Our staff at Gardner Elementary School in West Hollywood provides nutritional snacks and enrichment activities, assuring parents that their children’s safety and well-being are addressed along with much needed homework assistance. Qualified staff serve as mentors, working individually with the children in a setting designed to create a positive educational environment.
